Sustainability & Our Planet

Most activewear these days is made from nylon and polyester.

Nylon and polyester

Made from petrochemicals, these synthetics are non-biodegradable as well, so they are inherently unsustainable on two counts. Nylon manufacture creates nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas 310 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Making polyester uses large amounts of water for cooling, along with lubricants which can become a source of contamination. Both processes are also very energy-hungry.

At Feel Fit we put sustainability at the heart of all we do, it is one of our core values as a brand. Because we make our gym & leisure wear in an eco-conscious way Feel Fit Conscious Apparel stands out within the activewear industry. From start to finish we are thinking about the environment, the materials, our suppliers, the process in which it is made, even to the packaging we send it out in.

We feel strongly about working with organisations to give back, to support local, to be as sustainable as we can be and to encourage others to be as well.

Scientists have forecasted that the amount of plastic clogging our oceans and rivers will be more than the number of fishes by 2050. Approximately 1 million seabirds and marine animals die each year due to plastic waste.

And it is not only plastic we need to consider...

Fast fashion makes shopping for clothes more affordable, but it comes at an environmental cost. The fashion industry produces 10% of all humanity's carbon emissions, is the second-largest consumer of the world's water supply and pollutes the oceans with microplastics.

With our core value at the fore front of our minds, we have created items you won’t need to throw away, that will last, that are classic key items and that are good for our environment. This is our contribution to help save our oceans & planet.

The material we use.

ECONYL® is 100% regenerated nylon fibre made from fishnets and other nylon waste. You can find out more about this material HERE.

Did you know?

640,000 tonnes of fishing nets are discarded in our oceans every year.

2,700 litres is the amount of water it takes to make a cotton T-Shirts. Organic cotton take 91% less - but only 1% of cotton used is organic.
